Age UK have Surrey been extremely busy during this unprecedented time setting up new services ensuring all older people in Surrey can be supported and helped during the enforced lockdown/isolation.

Please see below for details about the new services they have introduced and how your clients or anyone you know, can access them:

Age UK Surrey Emergency Shopping Service

This is a free service available to older people who are not able to access online food deliveries or go to the shops because they are staying home to keep safe. The emergency shopping service is for people who need essential items. They can also help with collecting prescriptions.

Age UK Surrey Check in and Chat - Telephone Befriending Service

The team are offering a new telephone service, Check in and Chat, for older people across the county. One of the best ways of helping someone during this unsettling time is by keeping in touch. They are able to offer this service through the support of volunteers who they match with people who would like to receive a regular telephone call. Age UK Surrey - Help with Getting Online

Staying at home and staying safe has given rise to lots of new initiatives and ways to virtually speak to friends and family, access shows, art collections, quiz nights, concerts, keep fit classes, nature and open spaces plus more, all from the comfort of your own home!

If your clients need digital help to get online to take advantage of the many new initiatives that are on offer, Age UK Surrey's computer drop-in volunteers are offering a free telephone service arranged at a time and day that is mutually convenient.
